NFC EMT Students Explore ShandsCair3 in Perry, Florida
MADISON, FL (May 23, 2022) – North Florida College (NFC) Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) students traveled to Perry recently to explore the ShandsCair3 team’s MEDEVAC helicopter and learn about the important roles EMTs and paramedics serve on critical care teams.
ShandsCair (shandscair.ufhealth.org) is the critical care transport system of University of Florida Health. ShandsCair provides transport and specialized care to approximately 9,400 patients per year by way of a large fleet including fixed-wing aircraft, helicopters, ground ambulances, and medical transport vans. The ShandsCair helicopter typically transports patients from prehospital scenes within a 75-mile radius, and community hospital emergency departments and intensive care units up to a 240-mile radius.
Six ShandsCair Adult/Pediatric Flight Teams are located throughout Florida in Gainesville, Summerfield, Perry, Panama City and Milton.
